Info about SUNY Schools

By now you should be finishing up your college applications! Many deadlines were due in December and will be due in early January. Make sure you ask your teachers for recommendation letters. If you ask them the day before the application deadline, you are not likely to get the best possible recommendation letter! Please come see me if you are not sure about schools to apply to or how to do your applications. I will help you!

Your final list of schools should include some CUNY and SUNY schools – they will be the most cost-effective schools for you and your family while providing an incredible education! Check out some notable SUNY alumni below:

Thomas E. Clarke, President of Nike – UAlbany
Wolf Blitzer, CNN Journalist/Broadcaster – Buffalo U
Harvey Weinstein, Co-chair of Miramax Films – Buffalo U
Al Roker, Today Show Journalist/Broadcaster – Oswego
Wesley Snipes, Actor – Purchase
John Liu, NYC Council – Buffalo U
Jef Raskin, Co-creater Macintosh computer – StonyBrook
Andrew Greer, NBA Coach – Brockport
Robert Casullo, NFL Coach – Brockport

Did you know that 40% of all NYC high school graduates attend a SUNY school?

If you are not sure of what SUNY schools to include on your list, utilize the College & Career Office (room 307) and the SUNY website (www.suny.edu). On the website you can search by school, by undergraduate majors, by sports teams available, and by cost. You can even use the Net Price Calculator to get an estimate of what a specific school will cost you and your family after financial aid is applied.

There is a SUNY school for EVERYONE. Students who are average, above average, and below average have a home at one of the many schools in the SUNY system. Go to www.suny.edu/applysuny NOW to begin your application!
