SUNY Oneonta On-Site Admissions Program - 1/2714 - 1/31/14

Seniors,
See the information below about SUNY Oneonta on-site admissions program in NYC. Basically, you bring them your information and meet with an admissions rep and find out right on the spot if you have been accepted to the school! If you are applying EOP, you cannot get an instant decision but it will be beneficial to meet with an admissions counselor.

General students: minimum GPA of 84 / SAT 950
EOP students: minimum GPA of 78 / SAT 800

If you have applied to Oneonta already, I strongly suggest you attend the on-site admissions program!

On-Site Admissions Program

Dear Jennifer,

SUNY Oneonta is increasingly becoming a more diverse campus. We welcome and celebrate students of different backgrounds ranging from race and ethnicity to gender, sexual orientation and/or identity; from religion and socio-economic status to age and nationality. We are committed to providing the social, spiritual and academic support
necessary for students to thrive in our diverse community. As part of our continued effort to recruit a diverse student body, we are once again hosting our annual On-Site Admissions (OSA) program and again asking for your support.

OSA allows SUNY Oneonta Admissions Counselors to meet with students, review academic credentials and supplemental information. During these interviews students who meet our admissions criteria will receive a formal written agreement confirming their acceptance to the college for the fall of 2014.

Details of the program are below:

Where: SUNY Center for Student Recruitment (33 West 42nd Street, between 5th & 6th
Avenues, New York City)

When: January 27-31, 2014
1/27 & 1/28 – 9:00am-5:00pm
1/29 & 1/30 – 9:00am-6:00pm
1/31 – 8:00am-12:00pm
We are asking for your assistance in identifying students who have applied to SUNY Oneonta and who you feel would contribute to diversity at the College. Identifying additional students that have not yet applied, but who show an interest in SUNY Oneonta is also helpful.

To participate in this program:

*** Prospective Non-EOP students MUST have a GPA of at least 84 and a minimum SAT (Critical Reading and Math combined; no Writing) score of 950 (20 ACT)

*** Prospective EOP students MUST have a GPA of at least 78, and a SAT score of
800 (17 ACT).

EOP applicants will NOT receive an on-site decision. The EOP application committee does not begin review until February. However, it is still highly recommended that EOP applicants come and meet with a counselor. The EOP counselor will be available January 27th thru 31st as well.
Students must call the Admissions Office at (800) SUNY-123 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. Do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting your students and working with you throughout the process.

Thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely,

Bobak Kasrai
Admissions Counselor

FAFSA at McKee - January 25th, 10 AM

There will be a FAFSA/Financial Aid workshop, Saturday, Jan 25th at 10 am at McKee High School. Students will have the flyers by Thursday. Ms. Miller-Peccora will go into the classrooms next week and encourage students to come. You will also hear a mass phone call next week.

I strongly encourage you to join us on Saturday, January 25th, 10 am to find out how you can afford to send your child to college by filling out FAFSA.

The 2014-2015 FAFSA application is now available. It is recommended that your seniors complete and submit the FAFSA form by February 15th. Upon completion of the FAFSA, New York state residents will receive a link to complete the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application online.

The first step is to obtain a Federal Student Aid Personal Identification Number (PIN) online at www.pin.ed.gov. The PIN will be used to electronically sign and update the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.

As a reminder, FAFSA on the WEB allows applicants to access their IRS tax information and have it automatically inserted into the FAFSA. The 2014-2015 FAFSA will include a brief series of questions to determine whether an individual is eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT). Those eligible are strongly encouraged to utilize the tool available starting February 3, 2014.

Once the FAFSA is processed, the student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that indicates a calculated Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Encourage your seniors to review the SAR for accuracy including the correct school codes. CUNY will send financial aid award letters in early April 2014.

Your student should review the CUNY Financial Aid website for detailed information relating to college costs and types of aid available and the CUNY NET Price Calculator.

For specific questions regarding financial aid at CUNY, students may contact the Office of Financial Aid at their CUNY college of interest.
