Text Messaging College News Courtesy of the College Board
Text messaging campaigns to provide students with
personalized college and financial aid information have been used in school
districts and communities across the country and have consistently led to improved college enrollment rates.
We are confident our students will benefit from these reminders as well.
With the PSAT/NMSQT administration just around the corner
October 15, here’s what we will do and will ask you to do in order to offer
your students the chance to participate:
Before test day
§
Our
counselors will receive a package with instructions and yellow sign-up forms that will
explain the purpose of the text messaging campaign and ask students if they
would like to provide their cell phone number and consent to receive text
messages from the College Board (www.collegeboard.com).
§
The
forms and the accompanying instructions for administration in advance of test
day will be reviewed and also reviewed with the proctor(s) and assistant(s).
§
The
materials will be with our school’s PSAT/NMSQT materials.
On test day
§
Please
make sure you follow the instructions provided by the counselor on the
form.
§
For
you to be on the text alert messages, you must return the completed
sign-up forms in the envelope provided using the same box in which you will
return your school’s PSAT/NMSQT materials.
