Calling all Parents/Guardians/Caregivers of Seniors + SENIORS
It’s time to helicopter and swoop in on the scholarships.
This is a scholarship WE ARE URGING ALL SENIORS to take
part in!! Your child could win $2000 for writing a 500 word
essay on KINDNESS and how an act of kindness has made a difference in your life. EASY
PEASY!
This scholarship is NOT need-based! ANYONE is
eligible! The most important thing for you to know about this scholarship: A $2000 scholarship award is given to one
graduate of EACH STATEN ISLAND PUBLIC
HIGH SCHOOL. That means that one student at McKee is guaranteed to win
the $2000. BUT – if they don’t receive at least 3 applications from
McKee, no one wins! COME AND GET THIS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FROM MS. MILLER. Read the
specifics below.

Scholarship Award Essay Contest

A $2000 scholarship award is given to one graduate of EACH
STATEN ISLAND PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL and one District 31 Special Education
student. Any student in the January, June or August 2014 graduating
class may apply. The scholarship award application can be obtained by your
College Advisor/Guidance Counselor. It can also be accessed on the Federation
website at www.sifpta.org.
The criteria is:
- Written
essay based on this year’s essay question
- Completed
student information sheet
- Essay
recipient must be present to accept the award on June 2nd at the
Scholarship Luncheon held at the Hilton Garden Inn
The essay, which is to be written
by the student, is to be no more
than 500 words (2 pages) and typed in a 14 point plain font with double
spacing. Be advised that the student's name MUST NOT appear ANYWHERE on the
essay.

ESSAY QUESTION:
Sometimes a simple act of kindness can change one's life. Tell
how an act of kindness you offered, or that was offered to you has made an
important difference in your life.
Return the completed Student Info Sheet and Essay to Ms. Miller by MARCH 7TH.
