SUMMER PROGRAMS AT NYU-POLYTEC FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Help your students get a head start on their academic year.

To help your students get a jump-start on their final years as a high school student, NYU-Poly is offering summer courses in Engineering, Mathematics, and Web Design as well as an exciting CSAW Cybersecurity Program for Young Women in High School. Let Poly's tradition of invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship help prepare them for academic success!

We hope you will be able to inform your students of these exciting summer courses:

Introduction to Engineering and Design

This three credit summer course aims to provide students with a hands-on learning experience, which will provide: working knowledge of contemporary engineering practice, the problem solving process, and the tools and technologies engineers employ, as well as an understanding of the design process including competition, cost, quality, scheduling and manufacturability considerations and the opportunity to practice in an actual design project - building a robot.

Pre-Calculus

This four credit course is designed for high school students who want to improve their Algebra I and II skill as well as their understanding of the fundamentals required for Calculus. Students will learn exponents, multiplication of algebraic expressions, factoring algebraic expressions, working with algebraic fractions, proportionality, rates of change, and more.

Web Design

This three credit course is designed for high school students wanting to learn more about designing for the Web. Students will learn HyperText Markup Language (HTML) - the code structure underneath the Web pages; Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) the presentation layer of the web; and JavaScript, a language for controlling behavior on web pages.

CSAW Cybersecurity Program for Young Women

This program provides a unique opportunity for high school females from the New York City area. Qualified students will engage in an educational program covering the fundamental concepts of computer science, math and cybersecurity, leading to participation in a nationwide CSAW High School Cyber Forensics Challenge hosted annually by NYU-Poly.
