The mission of the NYCHA Resident Training Academy (NRTA) is to prepare NYCHA residents for potential employment with the New York City Housing Authority by way of the Caretaker training or the Construction training. NRTA graduates will have enhanced access to employment opportunities with NYCHA and contractors doing business with NYCHA. During training participants will improve upon critical soft skills that support long-term employment and learn key hands-on skills required to perform job duties safely and effectively. All NRTA training programs and activities are designed to position individuals for entry-level employment, but also to assist in the development and execution of a career plan, which over time, may lead to career advancement opportunities.
